We launched Project Wayfinder, developed by leading design thinking institute d.school at Stanford University, for Advising at Years 9 and 10.

Donations helped us enhance our tech capabilities in 95 classrooms across the College. We added new hardware, such as cameras and microphones, and upgraded to Brightspace, a cloud-based learning platform.

Our signature World Affairs conference was held fully online for the first time, attracting more than 900 students from 10 countries. Shaped around the theme Together Towards Tomorrow, WAC 2021 explored how we can collaborate to make our world better through diversity, education and innovation. The keynote speaker was Dr. George Elliott Clarke, poet, novelist, playwright and critic who serves as Canada's seventh Parliamentary Poet Laureate.

UCC reached out to the broader community with a variety of initiatives through Horizons, including online summer programs, peer-to-peer learning and mentorship, as well as providing T-shirts and bags.

An artist-in-residence program was added at the Upper School to develop a larger perspective on the world of film.

Class of 1970 Gift

The Class of 1970 donated a new bell at the College as a symbol of celebration and memory.

Truth and Reconciliation

The Lind Art Fund supported online Truth and Reconciliation workshops led by Indigenous artist Philip Cote for students, faculty and staff.

Boarding

Many boarding events were made possible by donations, including contributions towards fireside events (with a portable fireplace), sports equipment and participation in Toronto’s culture. The houses are also benefitting from 60 UV air purifiers to reduce indoor air pollutants.

A variety of virtual speakers delivered enlightening presentations to students of all ages, complementing and expanding curricular learning.

Renovations and Enhancements

Donor generosity paved the way for improvements school-wide, including new furniture for the Prep's Wilder Library and actor's court, 100 UV air purifiers for classrooms across the College, and new furniture for the Upper School WWCfL.

The Leaving Class Lounge was also renovated as the Class of 2021 gift to the school.

Enhancements to our hub for design innovation at the Upper School included two new printers, a 3D printer, a machine for recycling plastic, and a moulding unit called a formbox.

Books and online resources were purchased in a range of areas. The focus for development in our fiction and non-fiction print collection was on diversity and inclusion across authors and subjects. Attention was also given to improving digital access to ebooks and specialized academic journal collections in support of students writing the IB's Extended Essay.
